Today we’re going to approach the topic of online communication from a different angle, thinking through the propaganda strategies used by political extremists in our ever-expanding age of self-documentation and expression on the internet and social media.

Some of the themes we will be exploring are the role of social media in the mobilization of young extremists, the difference between analogue and digital forms of political activism, and social media as a combined space of communicative possibility and of polarization and violence.

Today’s guest is Michael Krona, senior lecturer in media and communication studies at Malmö University.
