In case of emotions – an audience engagement experiment

For the first time, the Royal Danish Theatre’s audience will be active co-creators of the concert experience by using their mobile phones. This within the Interreg project Musikalsk Oplevelsesdesign where three cultural institutions, two academic institutions and the Øresund commitee collaborate in developing new audience engagement concepts within classical music and performing arts.

During the Music2Go concert on May 5, the audience will be able to influence the light in the concert hall by using their mobile phones (through the website icoe.dk). Emotions are hard to capture and make visible, but what if you make the emotions an active part of the scenography? “In case of emotions” is an interactive system through which the audience can influence the color of the light in the concert hall.

This concept has been developed within Medea’s Connectivity Lab, an experimental prototype arena where skills, technologies and researchers meet with entrepreneurs and companies to help create new and better services, experiences and products in the field of digital media and connected devices.
