Lecture: From Form to Transformation – Maria Hellström Reimer and Rolf Hughes

A series of open lectures on the theme “design?!” will be offered this autumn to new and old members of the Fabriken community at STPLN. These lectures are part of the course Design Theory. Below you can watch two lectures from this course on the theme From Form to Transformation.

See the full lecture schedule here and check out our archive of video lectures!

Maria Hellström-Reimer
Maria is professor in design theory at Malmö University’s School of Arts and Communication and begins this lecture with talking about the paradigmatic change in design, from a refined form of craft into something that is much more processual – design as a practice that transgresses form. See the video embedded below or follow this YouTube link (Fast forward to 2:30).

Rolf Hughes – Transformative Design
Rolf Hughes is professor in design theory focusing on practice based research at Konstfack (University College of Arts, Crafts and Design) and in the lecture he talks about how to think about design liberated from design artifacts. See the video embedded below or follow this YouTube link
