I’ll be joining you at MEDEA in less than a month, and I want to invite you to a new discussion series that I’ll be hosting. Titled Synthesize, participants in the series will explore the role of design synthesis in the context of complex problems. We’ll work together to describe methods and techniques of synthesis, and will examine these through the lens of social entrepreneurship. Ultimately, the discussion series will attempt to recast design synthesis as a fundamental skill required to approach humanitarian problems. The goal is to foster a discussion around the relationship between design and issues of poverty, sustainability, education, and health & wellness.
The first discussion will be on the topic of “Are Wicked Problems actually solvable?” and will be held on May 5th [time and location to be announced soon]. In anticipation of the discussion, you might begin exploring the work of Horst Rittel.
