Media remix and creative appropriation are key elements in the interactive media, and Barcode Beats illustrates those principles perfectly.
The key idea is to connect beats, loops and other musical elements to barcodes such as the ones you would find on groceries. Thus the stage is set for all kinds of shopping-mall performances, where any shopper can take part. The idea may be simple, but it proves to be quite inspirational and engaging.
Barcode Beats was developed by the Malmö New Media Living Lab in collaboration with Rörelsen Gatans Röst och Ansikte.
